Natalie Simpson hit a three run homer in the top of the sixth inning, and only allowed two unearned runs in the circle to lift Bucksport to an 8-2 win at Dexter on Wednesday afternoon.
The teams played three scoreless innings before Lexi Raymond hit a single to score Brianna Rotella in the top of the fourth. The Bucks added one more during the frame.
Bucksport took advantage of a walk and a Tigers error to take a 4-0 lead in the fifth inning. Dexter took advantage of three Bucksport errors to score two runs in the bottom half.
With one out, Raymond and Marina Keene each hit a single to set up the three run homer from Simpson to give Bucksport a 7-2 lead. The senior took care of the rest from the circle, retiring the final seven batters.
Desiree Adams had two hits and one RBI to lead the Tigers offense. Kayleigh Dunton reached base twice. Abigail Trafton had one RBI, while Kaitlyn Cookson and Maddisyn Davis each scored one run. Claire Fogler gave up two runs on two walks and seven hits, while striking out two. Kallie Stone pitched the final three innings.
Raymond had three hits, two RBI, and two stolen bases to lead the Bucks from the leadoff spot. Keene, Jetta Shook, Simpson, and Addison Harvey had two hits each. Allie Hanscom had one RBI. Simpson allowed five hits and one walk, while striking out seven.
