Husson baseball rolls over UMF, Sundays games to be moved to Bangor

Husson University rolled over the University of Maine-Farmington in North Atlantic Conference baseball action 17-1 on Saturday in a rain shortened seven inning game at Hippach Field in Farmington, spoiling Senior Day for the Beavers. The teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but rain postponed game two.

The visiting Eagles pounded out 18 hits in the victory. Akira Warren (Hall-Dale), Cam Rendell, and Jackson Curtis (Ellsworth) had three hits a piece. Matt Holmes (Bangor) had three RBI, while Tanner Evans (Old Town) and Rendell knocked in two runs each. Warren had two doubles, while Holmes had a three-run homerun. Connor Abood (3-1) went 6.0 innings to get the victory on the mound allowing one run on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Colby Lewis had two hits for UMaine-Farmington, while Sam Wrigley (Mt. Blue) suffered the defeat on the hill and fell to 0-4 by giving up seven earned runs on 10 hits in 3.0 innings. The Beavers are now 9-25 and 3-12 in the North Atlantic Conference, while the Eagles improve to 20-13 and 12-3 respectively.

The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at noon, but the location has been changed to the Winkin Complex at Husson University in Bangor due to field conditions in Farmington. UMF will still serve as the home team.
