Rivier cruises past Maine Maritime Academy in NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament, advances to meet Bowdoin

Rivier University scored the first nine goals of the game on Wednesday afternoon in building a 14-2 halftime lead, as they would cruise past Maine Maritime Academy 20-10 in a first round matchup of the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Tournament at Joanne Merrill Field in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Brendan Reddington (two goals, two assists), Trey Marcil (one goal, three assists), and Sam Nichol (three goals, one assist) each had four points in the loss for Maine Maritime Academy. Will Farrell (Lincoln Academy) played most of the game in net and made seven saves in just over 52 minutes. The Mariners season ends with a final record of 10-6. Michael Ference led all scorers in the game in tallying six goals and three assists for Rivier. The Knights, who are the regional hosts, take a 15 game win streak (now 17-1) into a second round matchup against Bowdoin College (13-3) on Saturday at 12 p.m.
