Husson baseball and softball both heading out on the road for the NCAA Tournament this week

The NCAA announced their regional fields on Monday for the NCAA Division III Baseball and Softball Tournament. Both Husson clubs will be out on the road, fresh off their North Atlantic Conference Championship wins on Sunday. The regionals are all double elimination, with the winners all advancing to the super regionals next week.

The Eagles baseball team (24-14), after beating Thomas 17-7 in the NAC Championship for their sixth straight league title, is headed to New Jersey for the regional hosted by Kean University. Husson will square off with the Cougars (35-8) on Friday at 11 a.m. SUNY Cortland (29-11) and Middlebury (27-11) are the other two competitors in the field and will also meet on Friday. Husson is 4-8 in the NCAA Tournament since 2021, and won two games last season to reach the regional final in Willamantic, Connecticut before falling to Endicott College 4-3.

Husson softball (27-10) will carry a nine game win streak into the NCAA Tournament, after defeating host SUNY Cobleskill 8-0 to claim their seventh straight league championship over the weekend. The Eagles are headed to Minnesota in the regional at Saint Mary’s of Minnesota, and will take on the host Cardinal (39-3) at 12 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday. Saint Mary’s is on a 29-game win streak and hosting for a first time in program history. Simpson University (31-7) and DePauw University (24-13) are the other two schools in the field and will also square off on Thursday. Husson is 5-12 in the NCAA Tournament since 2018, falling in a regional final in both 2021 and 2024 that they hosted in Bangor.
