Mickey Fitzsimmons pitched a gem and the Machias Bulldogs got a walk-off win 2-1 jn extra innings to hand Bangor Christian their first loss of the season on Friday afternoon.
Nick Hennessey reached on an error to start off the bottom of the eighth inning for the Bulldogs. He advanced to second on an error, to third on a walk, and came home to score the game winning run on a passed ball. Fitzsimmons allowed one run on eight hits, he didn’t issue any walks and struck out five.
Jon Benjamin had three hits and Cole Payne had two for the Patriots. Payne allowed two unearned runs on two hits and two walks, while striking out 11.
