The Mt. View Girls Softball team picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday, May 22nd, at Thorndike with a 5-2 victory over Washington Academy in the second game of a doubleheader. Emily Richards had two doubles, a single, one run scored, and two RBI to pace the Mustangs. Madison Bennett also had a single and one RBI, Demiah Emory had a single and a run scored, Brooke Dyer along with Samantha Rainey both had runs scored, and Jayden Dodge had an RBI to round out the scoring.
Richards drove home two with a single in the bottom of the 4th to put Mt. View up 4-2. Dodge walked to bring in a run to put Mt. View up 5-2.
The Mustangs received a stellar pitching performance from Jazlyn Totman, who went the distance. Dyer recorded all three put outs in the top of the 5th to preserve the victory.
The game featured some outstanding plays in the field such as Emory’s long run for a catch in the 2nd inning, Dodge throwing out a runner trying to steal at second, and several nice stretches from Dyer at first base.
