Lauren Veino pitched a no-hitter, striking out 15, including her 500th career strikeout in leading Penobscot Valley to an 11-0 softball win over Stearns in five innings on Monday afternoon.
Veino was just a dropped third strike and an error away from a perfect game. Veino recorded a strikeout for every out with the exception of a fly out to get the final batter of the game. Ellie Austin had two hits, including a double and three RBI to lead the Howlers offense.
