Gaw leads PCHS softball to win over Searsport

PCHS softball scored nine runs in the fifth inning to grab a 17-7 win over Searsport on Tuesday afternoon at Guilford.

Searsport jumped out to a 4-0 lead with two runs in the first and two more in the second inning.  Baileigh Bagley ripped a double in the first inning, Cora Lockhart hit a single that scored Hadleigh Hall and Bagley. Ava Landre had a run scoring single in the second inning.

PCHS responded with five runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Pirates took advantage of four walks, one hit batter, one error, and got a hit from Breelyn Gaw that scored three runs.

Searsport took the lead back with two runs in the top of the fourth inning, highlighted by a hit from Willow Law.  PCHS responded quickly when Gaw and Emery-Jo Chambers had RBI singles in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Rayna Short evened up the score for the Vikings in the fifth inning. PCHS exploded for nine runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a hit by Reese Starbird that scored two runs.

Bagley had two doubles to lead the Vikings. Landre reached base three times and scored two runs. Law also reached base three times.

Gaw reached base three times, including recording two hits and six RBI for the Pirates. Starbird reached base four times with three walks, one hit, two runs scored, and two RBI. Alivia Koscielny reached base four times and scored three runs. Hailey Chambers, Kiah Nick, and Khloe Farnham each walked three times and scored two runs.  Macie Littlefield and Hannah Firth scored two runs each.  Chambers had two RBI.  Starbird picked up the win in the circle, she allowed seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits and six walks with one strikeout.
