In a pitchers duel at Hampden Academy on Tuesday, a RBI single by Mariah Coon in the sixth inning sent the Broncos to a 1-0 softball win over Hermon.
The game winning run for the Broncos (9-7) in the last of the sixth was set up with two outs and noone on base. Kiera Gabric singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and would score on a single by Coon. Those were the only two hits for Hampden in the game. Cat Facchini got the victory in the circle with a complete game shutout allowing just two hits while walking one and striking out six. Kenzie Gallant and Addy Waning had the hits for the Hawks. Braelyn Wilcox also pitched strong in the loss giving up one run on two hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts. Hermon will the #1 seed in the Class B North playoffs, ending their regular season with a record of 14-2.
