Maine Central Institute scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, walking off a 10-9 win over Foxcroft Academy in a Class C softball prelim game played in Pittsfield on Tuesday afternoon.
The Huskies had taken an 8-6 advantage single runs in the fourth and fifth innings on an error and a passed ball. The Ponies loaded the bases in the top of the seventh with no outs. Jenna Hartford drew a walk to cut it to 8-7, and then with two outs Aspen Perry hit a two-run single to jump FA into the lead 9-8. MCI then hit back to back singles to begin the bottom half of the frame, before Abbi McCarron tied it with a third straight single. Faith Snowman followed with a walk to load the bases, and then with Bella Barkac Girrior batting they would walk it off when Emily Lawrence scored a wild pitch.
Perry led #10 Foxcroft Academy with two hits and four RBI. Lili Bisson added three hits and two RBI, while Grace Greene also chipped in with a pair of hits. Jadenne Frigon scored two runs and chipped in one hit. Bisson took the loss in the circle going the complete game on 163 pitches allowing 10 runs (five earned) on eight hits with 12 walks and five strikeouts. The Ponies end their season with a record of 5-12. Bailey Churchill had two hits and two runs driven in for MCI. Kassie Snowman contributed two hits, while Lawrence scored three runs and Jyllian Riendeau came across to score twice. Kassie Snowman also went the complete game in the circle in the victory giving up nine runs (six earned) on 10 hits with six walks and 11 strikeouts. The #7 Huskies (10-7), who lost both regular season games to Foxcroft, will play a quarterfinal game at #2 Mattanawcook Academy on Thursday at 4 p.m.
