Desiree Adams had three hits (two doubles) and two runs scored to lead Dexter softball to a 6-2 win over Houlton/GHCA in a Class C softball prelim game played on Wednesday afternoon.
Dexter scored four runs in the fifth inning to break open a tie game. Adams gave the Tigers a lead they wouldn’t give back when she hit a double to score Raylin Anderson. Abagail Trafton hit a single that scored Adams and Alex Hayden. Kallie Stone put another in when she singled up the middle to score Trafton. Stone allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and seven walks, while striking out nine. Dexter (11-6) will play a quarterfinal game at top seed Bucksport on Thursday, June 12th at 4:30 pm.
Mylee Sylvia and Amelia Matwyko reached base three times each for the Shires. Sylvia scored two runs. Matwyko allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits and four walks with seven strikeouts. Houlton/GHCA finishes the season with a 6-9 record.
