Bangor scored two runs in the first inning and five more in the third on Wednesday afternoon, while also getting a no-hitter on the mound from freshman Caden Karam in rolling past Brunswick 10-0 in five innings in a Class A baseball quarterfinal played at Mansfield Stadium.
Ethan Sproul and Jacoby Harvey knocked in two runs each for #3 Bangor. Sproul also stole three bases. Gavin Glanville-True had three hits and scored three times from the leadoff spot, while Teddy Stephenson and Kyle Johnson also scored twice. Stephenson also contributed a solo homerun and a steal of home plate. Karam hit the first batter of the game and later walked one while striking out eight in his 5.0 inning masterpiece on the hill. Sam Cook and Jimmy Mullen were the only two baserunners for the Dragons. Liam Scholl took the pitching loss as he was charged for seven runs on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts in 2.0+ innings. #6 Brunswick finishes their season with a record of 10-7. Bangor (12-5) will play in the semifinals on Saturday against either Messalonskee or Mt. Blue. A Messo win in the quarters would mean the Rams would host, while a victory by the Cougars would put Bangor on the road in Farmington.
