#8 seed Dexter/PCHS baseball rallies past Bucksport to reach Class C Regional Final

Chase Farnsworth reached on an error that scored Kody Kimball as part of a four-run top of the sixth inning on Saturday afternoon, as Dexter/PCHS rallied for a 5-2 win over Bucksport in a Class C semifinal baseball game.

In a 1-1 game in the bottom of the fourth, Nick Clair gave the host Golden Bucks a 2-1 lead with a RBI single scoring Jason Terrill. The Tigers put together the decisive frame though in the sixth. Willis Rienhardt led off and began the rally by reaching on an error, and then would steal second and third base. Kimball followed with a single to score Reinhardt to tie it. With one out, Gaige Tracy singled and moved to second on the throw to put two runners in scoring position. With two down, Farnsworth hit a hard grounder to shortstop that was misplayed by Terrill for an error as Kimball crossed the plate to give Dexter/PCHS their first lead and the lead for good. Brady Gaw capped off the inning with a two-run double to end the scoring moving the #8 seeded Tigers into the regional championship game.

Gaw led his team with those two big RBI in the victory, while also picking up the win on the mound allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits with three walks and 11 strikeouts in 6.1 innings before almost reaching his pitch limit. Noah Kain recorded the final two outs. Kimball had two hits, one RBI, scored two runs, and stole two bases. The Tigers had six steals, with Reinhardt also swiping two. The Golden Bucks were held to two hits. Clair had one of them for a RBI, while Bo Provencher and Terrill each scored a run. Trent Goss took the pitching loss giving up five runs (none earned) on six hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts in 5.2 innings. #5 Bucksport ends their season with a record of 11-7. Dexter/PCHS, now 13-6, will battle second seeded Washington Academy in the Class C Northern Maine Championship game at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
