Waterville scored three times in the bottom of the eighth inning on Tuesday evening, in rallying past the Bangor Babes 3-2 in Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League action at Allen Ryan Field on the campus of Thomas College.
TJ Llerena led Bangor with two hits and one RBI. Lance Keller stole two bases. Matt Haney suffered the pitching loss in relief. Noah Hurd (Mt. View High School, Husson University) was named the player of the game for Bangor as he fired 4.2 innings not giving up any runs on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts. The lefthander has had a fantastic time so far in the summer league. He’s pitched 11.2 innings overall giving up no runs on six hits with 18 strikeouts and four walks. Eddie Morrissey (St. Lawrence University) had the game winning three-run double for Waterville. Noah McMahon got the pitching win in relief. The Woodworkers are in first place and now 6-2 on the season. The Babes (3-3) return home to try and snap their first two game losing streak of the season when they face the Woodworkers again on Thursday night at the Winkin Complex in Bangor with first pitch set for 7 p.m.
