Will Davis got the big hit for Mt. Ararat in leading the Eagles to a 4-3 win over Bangor in the Class A baseball regional championship game on Tuesday.
The Eagles held a 3-1 leading after five innings. Kyle Johnson hit a homer for Bangor to even the score at three in the top of the sixth inning. Davis came up with a big double with two outs to give Mt. Ararat the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Stan Spooner earned the win on the mound for the Eagles. He allowed three runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out seven. Gavin Glanville-True led the Rams with two hits.
It is the first regional championship for the Eagles since 2004. Mt. Ararat will take on Biddeford for the state championship on Saturday, June 21st at St. Joseph’s College in Standish at 1 pm.
