ORONO, Maine – Charlotte Belanger (Ocean Park, ME), a first-year women’s soccer player at the University of Maine announced today she has signed with Pliable, a marketing company and NIL agency that helps high school, college and professional athletes build their athlete brand. She will have name, image, and likeness (NIL) representation and work with Pliable to develop her athlete brand to pursue her career in business.

Belanger, 18, excelled at Thornton Academy where she finished her career with an outstanding season earning a spot on the 1st Team All-Conference team, Senior All-Star team, All-State Team and New England All-Region team and All-Academic team. She currently plays for Seacoast United before joining the Black Bears this fall.

This past season, Belanger received the Dr. Richard Costello Memorial Award awarded to three girls and three boys from Maine based on their leadership, sportsmanship, and skill.

Belanger has signed for NIL representation with Pliable which will provide her with athlete support and branding services, including access to a wide range of partnership opportunities with local and national companies. She will work closely with Greg Glynn, Athlete Brand Advisor & CEO of Pliable to pursue her career goals.

“Pliable is excited to welcome Charlotte to the team because of her dedication to her sport and academic success. Growing up in the southern Maine area, Charlotte wants to give back to her community and inspire the next generation of Maine athletes and I am excited to help her with that goal. As a college athlete, she understands this opportunity is more than just about NIL opportunities, it’s a platform for professional development and a wide range of opportunities that come from playing college sports. Charlotte is going to be a great addition to the team of Pliable athletes, we are both excited to get started,” said Greg Glynn, founder & CEO of Pliable.

In July of 2021, the NCAA adopted an interim policy that allows college student-athletes to benefit and receive compensation from companies, organizations, and brands in exchange for the athlete using their name, image and likeness (NIL) to promote or endorse products or services. Since then, the NCAA and other athletic associations have created policies so athletes can receive compensation from their own entrepreneurial endeavors, including posting social media content for local businesses and national brands, selling merchandise, plus hosting sports camps, providing instruction and more.
