Trenton scored three times in the top of the eighth inning on Wednesday night, and defeated Bangor 10-8 in Senior Legion baseball action at Mansfield Stadium.
Dawson Curtis scored on an error by the catcher Zac Cota in that eighth inning that proved to be the game winner for the Acadians. The Comrades had a great chance to take the win when they had the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the seventh, but a strikeout and a line drive that ended up being a doubleplay extended the contest. Brady Pert led Trenton with two hits and four RBI. Ayden Maguire had three hits, while Brayden King and Curtis had two a piece. King and Curtis each scored three runs, and Maguire scored twice. King stole three bases, and Maguire swiped two. Haven Smith didn’t allow any runs in 2.1 innings to pick up the relief pitching win. It was the second victory of the evening for the Acadians, who had slipped past Old Town/Orono 9-8 earlier. Preston Karam had two RBI for Bangor, Cota had two hits, and Jonas Gilley scored two runs. Ian Boudreau suffered the loss on the hill in relief giving up four runs (one earned) on four hits in 4.0 innings of work.
