Bangor outslugs Augusta in GNCBL action

Jonah Baude (Bangor High, University of Maine-Presque Isle) had a go ahead game winning two-run single in the seventh inning on Sunday evening, in leading the Bangor Babes to a 12-9 road win over the Augusta Surgin’ Sturgeon at Morton Field in Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League (GNCBL) play.

The Babes trailed twice 5-3 and 8-7, before pushing ahead for good with a three-run top of the seventh inning. Bodie Bishop (Hampden Academy, USM) had three hits and was a single shy of the cycle with a double, triple, and a homerun, two RBI, with three runs scored. Bishop was named the Bangor Babes Player of the Game. Baude had two hits and three runs knocked in while also scoring twice. Joseph Wellman-Clouse (MDI, UMF) added two RBI, and Christopher Gaudio had two hits and scored twice. Brody Walsh (Mt. Blue, CMCC) earned the pitching win in relief. Noah Hurd (Mt. View, Husson) pitched 2.0 innings and got the save, allowing one unearned run but still hasn’t allowed any earned runs against on the season. Kyle Palleschi (Monmouth, Bard College) had a three-run homer in the loss for the Surgin’ Sturgeon, while Alex Bartlett (Oceanside, SMCC) also contributed a two-run shot. Brady Harvie (Windham, Plymouth State) suffered the loss on the hill in 3.2 innings of relief. Augusta falls to 5-7 on the summer. Bangor improves to 7-4 and will take on Augusta again at the Winkin Complex on the campus of Husson University on Thursday evening for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
