Bangor finishes GNCBL regular season home schedule with a win over Augusta

The Bangor Babes finished up the home portion of their 2025 Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League regular season on Tuesday night with a 7-3 win over the Augusta Surgin’ Sturgeon at the Winkin Complex on the campus of Husson University.

Trailing 3-1, the Babes scored three in the fifth inning and three more in the seventh to pick up the win. TJ Llerena had a RBI single, and Lance Keller smacked a RBI triple and scored on a wild pitch in the three-run fifth to give Bangor the lead for good. Christopher Gaudio gave his team some breathing room with a three-run triple in the eighth. Gaudio tried to come across for the inside the park grandslam, but was thrown out at the plate.

Llarena had three hits, one RBI, and scored three runs from his leadoff spot in the victory. Llarena was named the Bangor Babes Player of the Game. Keller, Brendan Mahaney, and Brody Walsh each added two hits. Gaudio contributed with his big three RBI hit. Cole Payne (Bangor Christian, Southern Maine Community College) would get the pitching win in relief by going 3.0 innings allowing no runs and no hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Trent Drouin and Anthony Cooley both had one hit and one RBI in the loss for Augusta, as the Surgin’ Sturgeon drop to 8-9 on the season.

Bangor (9-6) finishes their regular season on the road later this week, when they travel to Waterville to continue their suspended game with the Woodworkers (tied 11-11 in the top of sixth) on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., before a regularly scheduled nine inning contest that will follow approximately 30 minutes later.
