Sanford Mainers win third straight game, clinch a spot in NEBCL Playoffs

The Sanford Mainers rallied from a two-run deficit on four different occasions on Sunday night at Goodall Park, rallying for an 8-7 New England Collegiate Baseball League win over the Upper Valley Nighthawks.

The win also clinches a spot in the NECBL Playoffs for the Mainers, who jumped over .500 in the victory at 21-20. Kyle Douin (Cony, University of Southern Maine) provided the game winning RBI single to snap a 7-7 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning, after Sanford trailed 2-0, 4-2,  5-3, and 6-4.

Sanford has three regular season games remaining, including Monday night at home vs North Shore. The Mainers then play on the road at Vermont on Tuesday, and finish at home vs Danbury on Wednesday.  All games begin at 6:30 p.m. Playoff details will be released after the end of play on Wednesday.
