The Sanford Mainers (22-22) will have homefield advantage when the opening round of the New England Collegiate Baseball League Playoffs begin on Friday night.
Sanford will take on the North Adams SteepleCats (21-23) in a best of three series beginning with hosting game one at Goodall Park on Friday. Saturday’s game two with be at Joe Wolfe Field in North Adams (Massachusetts), with game three (if necessary) back at Goodall Park on Sunday. All games begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Newport Gulls are the two time defending league champion, beating Sanford last season in the title round. Newport (29-15) is a number two seed this season going into the playoffs.
