Maine women’s soccer, the two-time defending America East Champions, open their season August 17th at home

Coming off back to back America East Titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in program history, the Maine women’s soccer team is preparing for their 2025 season that begins in less than two weeks.

The Black Bears, who lost to Harvard and Wisconsin in those NCAA Tournament First Round games in 2023 and 2024, will enter 2025 with a league record 27-game home unbeaten streak (17-0-10). The record was previously held by Hartford (22). The last time Maine was beaten at home was a 1-0 defeat at the hands of UNH on October 14, 2021. The 2025 season opener is on Sunday, August 17th vs Rhode Island at noon at Mahaney Diamond in Orono. They’ll follow that up with another non-conference home match vs Boston University on Sunday, August 24th also at noon. The Bears will play six non-conference games and eight within America East, with the home conference opener on Thursday, October 2nd at 6 p.m. against Bryant.

Maine has tabbed an overall record of 24-4-9 the last two seasons (11-1-4 in America East), that also includes a perfect 4-0 in league playoff matches. The Black Bears were picked to finish third in the conference this season (four first place votes) in the preseason poll, behind Binghamton and UNH who split two votes each to win the regular season.

Senior forward Jordane Pinette, senior defender Rebecca Grisdale, and sophomore goalkeeper Grace Wilson were named to the America East Women’s Soccer All-Conference Preseason Team. Maine has nine newcomers that includes two transfers in sophomore defender Hilary Washington (Baylor), and junior defender Meghan Bernetti (Campbell).
