The University of Maine women’s ice hockey team announced their 2025-26 season schedule on July 29th. They will play a road exhibition to get things started at UNH on Saturday, September 20th. Their first regular season game will be in non-conference at Quinnipiac on Friday, September 26th as part of a two game series.
After the weekend at Quinnipiac with the Bobcats, they then face the powerhouse Wisconsin Badgers in Madison, Wisconsin for a two game weekend. Wisconsin went 38-1-2 last season, sweeping Maine in Orono, and won their eighth national title in overtime 4-3 over Ohio State on March 23rd in Minneapolis. The Black Bears home opener at Alfond Arena is vs Saint Anselm College on Friday, October 10th running in conjunction with the men’s hockey season opener later that night vs Holy Cross. They open the Hockey East portion of their schedule at Providence on October 31st and November 1st, with the home league openers in Orono set for November 7th and 8th vs Boston University.
Maine went 11-21-3 (10-14-3 in Hockey East) last season, falling to Boston College in the conference quarterfinals 4-3. They will return 13 players from last year’s roster including top point getter in junior forward Lily Fetch (8 goals, 7 assists- 15 points). The Black Bears should continue to be solid in net with junior Julia Bachetti, sophomore Kiia Lahtinen, and sophomore Madisyn Ryan all coming back. Lahtinen (6-16-1) started 23 games in 2024-25 after a Bachetti injury and posted a 2.79 goals against and a save percentage of .909 with two shutouts. Bachetti (4-5-2) started 11 games (2.85 GAA, .901 save %), while Ryan appeared in two games, started one, and picked up one win in that lone start.
