The Maine Mariners of the ECHL announced on Wednesday that they’ve hired Rick Kowalsky as the new head coach and general manager of the team.
Kowalsky becomes the fourth head coach in franchise history, taking over for Terrence Wallin who left the organization to take a job with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League. He has 20 years of coaching experience in professional hockey, including three with the New Jersey Devils. He was also a player at the ECHL and AHL levels, including with the Portland Pirates. He joins Maine after a four year stint with the Bridgeport Islanders (AHL) as an assistant and then the head coach for the past two seasons.
Maine begins the 2025-26 season on the road at Worcester on October 18th, before their home opener the next night against the Reading Royals on October 19th.
