The Roderick-Crosby Post 28 Flyers had their 13-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday, falling in five innings to St. Johnsbury (Vermont) 14-1 in their opening game of the double elimination American Senior Legion Baseball Northeast Regional in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
St. Johnsbury (Post 58) used a pair of two-run homeruns in the first two innings from Averill Parker to bolt out to a 12-0 lead. Nolan Leso had the lone run driven in for Roderick-Crosby with a RBI single in the third. Wil Eaton added another two-run homer for Vermont in the fourth inning. Parker had four RBI with his two longballs in the win, Kason Blood added a three-run double, and Eaton would knock in two. Tate Parker pitched 2.0 scoreless innings to get the victory on the mound. Leso had two hits and his RBI to lead the Flyers, while Logan Dube was charged with eight earned runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 1.1 innings in suffering the loss on the hill. Roderick-Crosby (16-2) now move on to an elimination game (game 6) against either Waterford (Connecticut) or Shrewsbury (Massachusetts) on Thursday.
