The Old Town/Orono Twins fell Saturday afternoon to Connecticut State Champion Waterford Post 161 by a score of 6-3 in a consolation game of the American Junior Legion Baseball Northeast Regional at Adams Field in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Waterford built a 6-0 lead highlighted by a three run fourth inning helped by three hits, a walk, and a hit batsman. Old Town/Orono battled back with three in the fifth on an error, a RBI single by Michael Carroll, and a bases loaded walk by Aidan Sucy but that would end the scoring on the day. The Twins bats were silenced over the final two frames, as they only had one base runner on a Carroll walk in the seventh.
Carroll, Sucy, and Carson Stanley had the RBI for Old Town/Orono. Carroll had two hits. Stanley also took the pitching loss allowing three runs on three hits with one walk and two strikeouts in 1.2 innings. JT Sheppard led Waterford with two hits and two RBI, while Jake Turner earned the pitching victory as he gave up three runs (but none earned) on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. The Twins end a phenomenal season, finishing as the Maine State Champion and with a final record of 15-6.
