Portland Hearts of Pine battling for a playoff spot in the last half of the season

The Portland Hearts of Pine, Maines new men’s professional soccer club in their first year of existence, is batting for a playoff spot in the USL One.

Portland currently sits in a tie for eighth place in the 14-team league at 4-4-9 (21 points). The top eight teams make the single elimination playoffs when the regular season ends in late October. Out of those nine draws (ties), the Hearts of Pine most recent game against the Richmond (VA) Kickers ended in a 0-0 deadlock on Saturday in front of a soldout crowd of 5,796 fans at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland. They have 13 regular season games remaining (five at home), with the next home match scheduled for Sunday, August 17th against the Spokane Velocity at 6 p.m.
