Maine Field Hockey tunes up for the regular season with two exhibition games this week

The University of Maine Field Hockey team is tuning up for their regular season with two exhibition road contests in Massachusetts this week.

The Black Bears first see action on Thursday, August 14th with a 5 p.m. match at Boston University, before playing at UMass on Saturday, August 16th at 12 p.m. The season opener will be at home at the Maine Field Hockey Complex in Orono on Friday, August 29th at 1 p.m. in non-conference against ACC foe Boston College. Maine, who finished 11-9 and 3-3 in America East last fall, plays six of their first seven games of the season at home (all in non-conference) including a tilt with Big 10 opponent Indiana on Monday, September 1st at 11 a.m.

The Black Bears, who fell to UNH in the America East semifinals a season ago, have been picked to finish fifth out of six teams in the preseason rankings. UNH, Vermont, and Albany were slated as the top three in the conference poll. Maine plays their home league opener on Friday, October 17th vs Bryant at 3 p.m.
