The Maine women’s soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie with Army on Sunday afternoon at Malek Stadium on Clinton Field in West Point, New York in non-conference action.
All the goals in the match were scored in the second half. Sabrina Rogers scored her first of the day in the 51st minute to give Army a 1-0 lead, before Abbey Thornton (77th minute) and Emma Nicholson (80th minute) would give Maine a 2-1 advantage. A foul in the final 10 seconds of regulation gave the Black Knights a free kick just outside the box, and Rogers got to a loose ball to put it home with just one second left on the clock to salvage the tie for her team. Victoria Dungey assisted on the Thornton goal for the Black Bears, and Grace Wilson made six saves in net. Jordan Follenweider and Cami Silvestro each had an assist for Army (4-1-1), and Karalyn Dail made two saves.
