Bates women’s soccer rallies late to clip Husson

Gwyn Jamison and Rachel Suh both scored very late in the second half on Wednesday night, pushing Bates College past Husson 2-1 in women’s non-conference soccer action at Boucher Field in Bangor. It was the home opener for the Eagles, and the season opener for the Bobcats.

Lyndsee Reed (Hermon) tallied for Husson in the 41st minute for the only Eagles goal. It was assisted by Caley Nault. The Bobcats kept pushing and finally broke though to tie it when Jamison found the back of the net with just over two minutes left in the match (87:38), before Suh came through with the game winner assisted by Gabby Monaco just 25 seconds later (88:03). Gabriella Smith (Biddeford) made five saves in net for Husson, while Sydney Litney and Brady Jacobsen combined to make two saves for Bates. The Bobcats outshot the Eagles 15-7 (7-3 on goal), and had an 8-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities. Husson (1-2) returns to action next Wednesday when they host Saint Joseph’s College of Standish at 6 p.m.
