Saylor Kuefler scored 3:28 into overtime Friday afternoon, as Maine picked up their first win of 2025 by edging Quinnipiac 2-1 in non-conference field hockey action at the Maine Field Hockey Complex in Orono.
Lucia Donati scored the lone goal for the Bobcats (2-1) for a 1-0 lead just over 10 minutes into the second quarter. The Black Bears answered just 1:37 after the Donati marker when Brynn Dzengelewski put on into the back of the cage on an assist from Floor Dijkhuizen. The teams then would remain scoreless through the end of regulation, before Kuefler picked up the game winner unassisted in the extra session. It was the second goal of the season for the junior. Cristina Torres made seven saves in net for Quinnipiac, while Jayden Temby stopped four shots for Maine. The Black Bears (1-2) return to action on Sunday when they host Stonehill College at 1 p.m.
