#25 Springfield College led from start to finish, and culminated in a dominant 38-6 win over Husson in non-conference football action on Saturday afternoon in their home opener at Stagg Field in Springfield, Massachusetts.
TJ Welch had a pair of touchdowns, including on the first possession and also a 70-yard score for the Pride and rushed for 113 yards in the game. Springfield on 55 carries had 435 rushing yards out of their 468 total offensive output on the afternoon. Elijah Garnett had the lone Eagles score in the fourth quarter on a 10-yard run. Husson only rushed for 20 yards (17 attempts). Max Clark was 16-21 passing for 108 yards. Stanford Davis also went for 121 yards on the ground for Springfield and a touchdown, as they improved their record to 1-1. Brayden Trombley recorded an interception for the 1-1 Eagles, who open up their home schedule in Bangor next Saturday at the Winkin Complex at 1 p.m. when they host Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).
