Husson men’s soccer battles to a non-conference tie with USM

The Husson University men’s soccer team remained winless, but got a second half shorthanded goal by Wessel Eldering on Wednesday night in battling to a 1-1 non-conference tie with the University of Southern Maine at Hannaford Field in Gorham.

Alex Graver (Freeport High School) scored for the Huskies 3:00 into the first half for a 1-0 lead. The Eagles were able to salvage the tie, despite being down a man due to a red card in the 67th minute, when Eldering put one in with 8:53 remaining in the contest on an assist from Cesar Soucre. It was the first collegiate goal of his career for Eldering. Lukas Hammond (Windham) made six saves in net for 0-4-1 USM, while freshman Liam Mason (Greenville) made four stops for 0-5-2 Husson. The Eagles begin North Atlantic Conference action when they host Lesley University this coming Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
