The Portland Hearts of Pine, the professional men’s soccer team in their inaugural season in the USL One, are moving up the standings thanks to a current six-game unbeaten streak.
The Heart of Pine (8-4-10 on the season) began this streak with a scoreless draw in Portland on August 9th against the Richmond Kickers. Since then they had another tie with first place Chattanooga (1-1), and wins over Westchester (3-2), Charlotte (4-2), Greenville (3-2), and the most recent on Wednesday night on the road over Richmond 5-2. Portland (4-0-2 in the last six matches) is now in fifth place in the USL standings. Their next contest is scheduled for Sunday when they host FC Naples at Fitzpatrick Stadium at 5 p.m. The top eight teams qualify for the postseason which begins the weekend of November 1st.
