PVHS girls soccer moves to 4-0 on the season

At East Corinth on Thursday, the PVHS Lady Howlers girls soccer team used a pair of goals in each half to propel them over the Central Red Devils 4-0.

The first goal came halfway through the first, when Charlotte Brochu received the ball and raced up the sideline. She then sent a through-ball to striker Rylee Moulton, who beat goalie Madelynn Frost for a 1-0 lead.  This duo would strike again just before the half, as Moulton returned the favor hitting Brochu on an angled lead pass in which Brochu found the back of the net. Prior to her pass, Moulton received a great throw in from Lauren Veino.

PVHS didn’t waste much time getting their third goal just a few minutes after halftime, this time starting from their own goalie’s possession. Keeper Brooklynn Raymond scooped the ball up and sent a throw to Brochu, who then passed to a cutting Lila Cummings. She then connected with Moulton for a beautiful give and go, and Cummings scored from just outside the 18 yard line. The final goal also came from Cummings, as she took a pass from freshman Casey Loring for the score.

Raymond and the PVHS defense registered their third shutout of the early season. They will travel to Fort Kent Saturday in a matchup between the 2024 Class D and Class C Regional Champions. Raymond stopped all 7 shots she faced. Frost was also excellent in net for Central, turning away a handful of tough shots and saving 21 of 33 attempts. The Red Devils dropped to 0-4, and will host Mattanawcook Academy on Saturday.
