The #7 Bates College Field Hockey team pulled off their biggest come from behind win in at least the last 40 years on Tuesday night, stunning #13 Bowdoin College 4-3 in overtime in Brunswick in NESCAC action.
Brooke Moloney-Kolenberg scored the tying goal with 51 seconds left in regulation, and then got the game winner 9:40 into the extra period. Bowdoin (5-1, 2-1 NESCAC) led 3-0 at halftime on tallies by Maddie Mrva, Mackay Bommer, and Fei Yang-Sady. Sophia Cordoni and Sophie O’Sullivan had the other two goals for the Bobcats, who are now 7-0 on the season which is their best start since 1973 (8-0). Their 3-0 conference record is the best in program history. Ava Donohue made seven saves in net, while Lauren O’Donald made seven stops for the Polar Bears. Bates will try to match that 1973 start when they hit the road again on Saturday to play #9 Amherst at 11 a.m.
