Maine men’s hockey announces 2025-26 team captains

With a preseason game just a week away and the regular season beginning in two weeks, the University of Maine men’s hockey team announced their 2025-26 captains on Friday.

Senior defenseman Brandon Holt and senior forward Thomas Freel with wear the C on their jerseys as team captains, while junior defenseman Frank Djurasevic will serve as an assistant captain.

Holt put in four goals and had 16 assists in 34 games last season, while Freel was effective on the powerplay and had 11 goals and seven assists with eight of the tallies coming in the extra man situation. Djurasevic, the transfer from Merrimack, added seven goals and 21 assists in a very solid sophomore campaign.

Maine is coming off their first Hockey East Championship since 2004, and their second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. They’ll face UNH in an exhibition next Friday, October 3rd at 7 p.m. at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, before opening the regular season at home for a two game non-conference series vs Holy Cross on Friday and Saturday October 10 and 11th with face-off set for 7 p.m. each night.
