BANGOR- The Endicott College Gulls took advantage of three Husson fumbles (two on kickoffs in the first half), and would roll past the Eagles 48-14 in the Conference of New England Football opener played at the Winkin Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Endicott (3-1, 1-0 CNE) scored first on a 3-yard run by Bryan Metayer, and converted a two-point conversion on a rush by Jayson Little. The Gulls would also get long touchdown passes from Shea Lynch to Mike Greene (52 and 63 yards) in the first half, and a blocked punt by Jacob Phelps that was also returned by Phelps for a score of 44 yards to build a 35-7 advantage at the break. Both Husson touchdowns on the day came on passes from Max Clark to Cam Holmes of 24 and 18 yards.
Clark only went 10-27 passing for 59 yards in the Husson loss, tossing the two touchdowns to Holmes but was also sacked three times. Elijah Garnett rushed 15 times for 72 yards, while Holmes finished with four catches for 57 yards and his two scores. Malcolm McKinnon had nine total tackles (three solo). Lynch was 14-25 for Endicott for 232 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Metayer ran for 66 yards with two touchdowns on 10 carries, while Greene had his two big catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Michael O’Brien also added a TD on the ground, and Thomas Skeffington caught another through the air. The Eagles (1-3, 0-1 CNE) will be at Western New England next Saturday at 1 p.m.
