The Husson men’s and women’s soccer teams dominated Vermont State University-Lyndon on Saturday afternoon for a North Atlantic Conference sweep on Boucher Field in Bangor.
In the women’s game- The Eagles (4-3-1, 1-0-1 NAC) netted 18 goals in a shutout win over the Hornets. Freshman Jillian Long had two goals and two assists, while Hailey Tarbox (Sanford High), Marila Corletto, and Kennedy Freston all put in two goals a piece. Gabriella Smith (Biddeford) played in net, but Lyndon was held without a single shot on goal in the contest. The 18 goals scored is a new single game program record.
In the men’s game- Freshman Davide Panci had a hat trick and also added an assist as the Eagles (2-5-3, 2-0 NAC) capped off the afternoon sweep 11-0. First year players Cesar Soucre and Rique Mendes also got in on the action. Soucre had two goals and two assists, while Mendes added two more with one helper. Freshman Yovanny Spilsbury and sophomore Corey Dawes split the game in net for Husson and didn’t face any shots on goal.
Both teams are back in action at home on Sunday against Vermont State University-Johnson. The women’s game begins at noon, with the men to follow at 2:30.
