Despite back to back losses, the Portland Hearts of Pine Soccer Club is in a good position for a playoff spot in the USL One with four games remaining on their regular season schedule.
Portland (10-6-10) had been on an unbeaten streak of eight games (6-0-2) before they fell to on the road 1-0 to Union Omaha on the road on Wednesday, and suffered a 3-1 home setback to Forward Madison on Saturday. A victory over Madison would of officially clinched a playoff spot. The Hearts of Pine are currently in 5th place in the standings, with the top eight teams advancing to the USL Playoffs. Portland, who is six points ahead of the 8th place Charlotte Independence, plays three of their final four regular season matches at home with the final one at Fitzpatrick Stadium on October 25th against AV Alta.
