The Alfond Arena in Orono underwent massive renovations and upgrades prior to the 2025-26 UMaine Ice Hockey season. The Black Bears men’s and women’s teams play the first home game there this Friday, October 10 with the women taking on Saint Anselm at 2 p.m. before the men’s team opens their season at 7 p.m. vs Holy Cross. These upgrades were made possible by a $240 million dollar investment by the Harold Alfond Foundation. Sports fan all my life. Enjoy all levels- high school, college, and professional. Boston sports fan in the four major sports. My college heart is with Maine Black Bears- also Michigan Wolverines on a more major level for basketball and football. I live in Bangor, have a daughter and granddaughter, and work full-time supporting adults with intellectual disabilities. Sports has been my passion since I was real young- I'm living out a dream being involved with the best sports group in Maine. Hope you enjoy our writings and the website.
