Husson women’s soccer sweeps NAC weekend, men split

The Husson University men’s and women’s soccer teams visited SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Delhi over the weekend in North Atlantic Conference action.

In the women’s game on Saturday, the visiting Eagles used five different goal scorers to defeat the Fighting Tigers of Cobleskill 6-1. Jacquie Pangburn (John Bapst) scored twice, while Addi Laslie (Ellsworth), Lyndsee Reed (Hermon), Jillian Long, and Rylee Speed (Central) notched one goal each. Gabriella Smith (Biddeford) made three saves in net. On Sunday at SUNY Delhi, Hailey Tarbox and Pangburn both scored in the first 10 minutes of the first half as Husson swept the conference weekend with a 2-1 victory over the Broncos. The goal by Pangburn was the game winner and she also added an assist. Madison Weigler made three saves. The Eagles are now 8-4-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the North Atlantic Conference. They return to play on Wednesday at home in a non-conference match against Plymouth State, before hosting UMaine-Farmington in NAC action as part of homecoming weekend on Saturday.

In the men’s game on Saturday at SUNY Cobleskill, the Eagles outshot the Fighting Tigers 22-6 (13-3 on goal) and got a pair of tallies from Miguel Diaz Alvarez in a 4-0 win. Arik Weinstein and Janvier Mbilizi also scored. Jamie Barr and Liam Mason (Greenville) combined for the shutout in net. On Sunday at SUNY Delhi, the Broncos scored a goal in each half and sent the Eagles to their first conference loss 2-0. Diaz Alvarez led the guests with six attempted shots (three on goal). Mason made two saves. Husson is now 5-8-3 and 5-1-0 in the North Atlantic Conference, and will host UMaine-Farmington next Saturday as part of homecoming weekend.
