Maine women’s soccer drops America East home decision to Vermont

The University of Maine women’s soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Vermont in America East action on Sunday afternoon at the New Balance Track & Field and Soccer Complex in Orono.

Madeline Gardner had the only goal to help the Catamounts stay unbeaten in conference play, scoring on assists from Lauren DeGroot and Emma Warren in the 51st minute. Jordan Pinette led the Black Bears with three shots (two on goal), and Elena Barenberg made five saves in net as they drop to 2-6-2 overall and 1-2-1 in America East. Vermont is now 5-3-4 and 3-0-1. Maine will be the road at UMass-Lowell at 6 p.m. on Thursday night.
