The Husson men’s golf team and women’s tennis team both finished as the runner-up in North Atlantic Conference Championship matches over the weekend.
The Eagles women’s tennis team fell 5-2 to Simmons University at the Apex Racket and Fitness Center in Portland on Sunday. Simmons (10-5) clinched the title by taking four out of six singles matches. Anah Albert (Fort Kent) and Katelyn Cotter (Windham) did earn 6-1 and 6-4 and 6-4 in 6-1 wins in the number four and six singles respectively. Simmons also earned an additional point by taking two out of three doubles matches. Cotter and Sadie May (Old Town) won the third doubles match spot, as Husson ended their season with a record of 9-3.
At SUNY Cobleskill in New York on Sunday, SUNY Delhi rallied from five strokes down after day one to take the NAC Title over Husson 603-611. Bradley Chisholm led the Eagles individually, finishing in second place with a +7 over par. Jace Cook (Calais) was sixth (+13), Juan Carlos Hernandez was tied for seventh (+14), Ty Dickson was 11th (+17), and Michael Bruce finished 17th (+24). The Eagles conclude their fall season next weekend when they compete in the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship in Brewster, Massachusetts on Saturday and Sunday.
