On Oct. 20, members of the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic board of governors presented a check to Shriners Children’s in Boston for $62,500, half of the total from the net proceeds from the game this year. Earlier this month, the board also presented a check for $62,500 to the Shriners Children’s in Springfield, Mass.

The Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic is an all-star football game for high school seniors. Each year, the game raises thousands of dollars for Shriners Children’s as players, cheerleaders and coaches raise funds by reaching out to family, friends and businesses to support the game and raise money.

Last year, the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic donated $102,000 to Shriners Children’s. This year, there were several new events and increased promotion by the players on social media which helped the fundraising reach the $125,000 breaking the all-time record raised by the game by $23,000.

This year, the event also fully implemented digital ticketing at MaineShrineLobsterBowl.com. This provided fans easier and earlier access to purchase game tickets.

“To celebrate our 35th anniversary, we wanted to take the game to a whole new level of fundraising and we did. Thanks to the support from the board, sponsors, athletes, coaches, their families, friends and community from across Maine and beyond, we broke the record; it was an incredible team effort. We made a lot of improvements this year to the fan experience including digital ticketing which made fundraising easier for everyone, including reaching more people on social media. To be the number #1 fundraiser among all the high school all-star football games from across the country is something our board and community wanted to do, and we did it. We’re already starting to plan for next year,” said Joe Hersom, President of the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic.

In 2025, the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic game included a Football FEZtival with a fundraising walk, food trucks and tables from businesses providing giveaways and fun activities. There was also a punt, pass and kick competition.

Planning is already underway for 2026. Including planning similar events and more alumni engagement and events. For more information, including sponsorship opportunities or how to donate, visit MaineShrineLobsterBowl.com.
