Drake Maye was sacked six times and threw an interception while also losing a fumble on Sunday afternoon, but tossed two touchdown passes and threw for 259 yards in helping the New England Patriots squeeze past the Atlanta Falcons 24-23 at Gillette Stadium for their sixth straight win.
DeMario “Pop” Douglas had a big day with four catches for 100 yards and a touchdown, including a 58-yard reception that set up a score. The eventual game winning play was a 32-yard field by Andres Borregales in the third quarter that made it 24-14. Atlanta (3-5) rallied and thought they had the game tied on a Drake London TD catch with 4:40 left in the game, but John Parker Romo missed the extra point. In their own territory at the 42 with 2:03 remaining, the Falcons had to punt and never got the ball back as the Patriots picked up a first down and ran out the clock. London ended up with nine catches for 118 yards and three touchdowns for Atlanta. New England (7-2) will be in Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers next Sunday at 1 p.m.
