Portland Hearts of Pine Soccer Club pulls first round playoff upset

The Portland Hearts of Pine pulled an upset on the road on Saturday night in the quarterfinal round of the USL One Men’s Professional Soccer Playoffs with a 1-0 victory over the Chattanooga Red Wolves at CHI Memorial Stadium in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The #7 seeded Hearts got a second half goal from Ollie Wright, and a spectacular performance in net from Hunter Morse to spring the upset over the #2 Red Wolves (15-6-10). Wright scored the game winner in the 55th minute on a give and go with Jake Keegan. Keegan laid the ball off to Wright who slotted a shot past the outstretched hands of Chattanooga goalie Ricardo Jerez into the bottom right corner of the net. Morse ended up with nine saves, as Portland (12-7-12) moves on to the semifinals in their inaugural season to take on either South Georgia Tormenta or Spokane Velocity next weekend.
