Two goals from Rucinski leads Maine women’s hockey past Holy Cross

Freshman defenseman Lulu Rucinski scored two goals, including the game winner 7:35 into the third period on Saturday night, as Maine downed Holy Cross 2-1 in women’s Hockey East action at Alfond in Orono.

Manny Gendron had the lone tally for the Crusaders, while Abby Hornung made 31 saves in net. Holy Cross drops to 14-7-1 and 6-6-1 in Hockey East, suffering just their second loss in their last eight games. Sade Sanilands and Breanna Curl each had an assist for the Black Bears, and Kiia Lahtinen made 26 stops in between the pipes. Maine improves to 8-11-2 and 4-5-2 in conference play, and will host #6 ranked UConn for a two game series at the Alfond next Friday and Saturday.
