Laela Martinez (Bangor High) led four players in double figures with 18 points on Tuesday evening, and Husson used a 16-4 run in the third quarter to pull away from SUNY Cobleskill 72-53 in North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action at Newman Gymnasium in Bangor.
Martinez added nine rebounds and four assists for the Eagles. Saige Evans (Old Town) had another big game with a double double recording 17 points and 14 rebounds. Abby Radel (Ellsworth) and Lily Roy (Wisdom) both chipped in 10 points a piece. Radel was 5-9 from the floor and also contributed three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Roy had four boards, two assists, one steal, and one blocked shot. Zaylee Ramos led all scorers in the defeat for SUNY Cobleskill, putting in 19 points and grabbing five rebounds. The Fighting Tigers drop to 6-5 and 4-3 in the NAC. Husson is now 6-5 and 5-2 in league play and will play on the road at Vermont State University Johnson and VSU Lyndon on Saturday and Sunday afternoon respectively.
