Bangor Christian rallies for girls basketball win over PVHS

The Bangor Christian Patriots outscored Penobscot Valley High School 33-19 in the second half to rally for a 62-53 girls basketball win on Saturday afternoon at Howland.

Bangor Christian held a 15-10 lead after the first quarter behind 2 three-pointers from Maris Kowalski. The Howlers put up 24 points in the second quarter as Brooklynn Raymond (10) and Rylee Moulton (8) combined for 18 in the period. PVHS took a 34-29 lead into halftime after Raymond hit a shot from 3/4 quarter court to beat the buzzer to end the first half.

The Patriots picked up the defense in the second half limiting PVHS to five points in the third quarter. Bangor Christian held a 42-39 lead heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Annie Allen had 11 of her game high 21 points in the fourth quarter to help seal the win. Kowalski had 16 points (4 three-pointers) and six rebounds. Mary Allen filled up the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Rivers Bradford added 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while Reese Starbird contributed five points, 14 rebounds, and two assists. Bangor Christian (12-0) will be at Schenck on Tuesday.

Moulton had 18 points and five rebounds to lead the Howlers. Raymond had 16 points (all in first half), six assists, and five rebounds. Charlotte Brochu added nine points and five rebounds, Lila Cummings had eight points and 12 rebounds, while McKenna Ireland chipped in with two points. PVHS (6-3) will host Lee on Monday.
